the proposal
My plan was to propose to mimi at the Carnelian Room, a lounge/restaurant located on the top floor of the bank of America building in San Francisco. We arrived there at 4pm, where mimi’s sister and mom decorated the room for a traditional English “high tea”. The room was beautiful!!!
(thanks tammy!!), it overlooked the entire west side of San Francisco including the Golden Gate bridge, Twin Peaks and lots of rain clouds. The first thing that mimi said when she saw the set up was, “Wow, my mom has the exact same tea set!” In an attempt to detract mimi from finding out that it ACTUALLY was her mom’s tea set, I said, “Hmm, I guess your mom really has good taste.” It worked; and we went on to enjoy the tartlets and the “salmon en crout”.
After exchanging Christmas gifts i proceeded to reach into my pocket to pull out a little red box. I told mimi that I have something to give her, to which she responded, “what’s that? Earrings?” I then had her sit in the chair in front of me, got down on both knees in front of her, and I read a secret poem to her, which is going to remain secret. Mimi, still being a little in shock, was a little inarticulate and scatter brained. But she did conjure up the words to say… “gimme the box! Please.” =)
I opened the box, put the ring on her finger, and after kissing me, she said yes.
After the proposal we went out to meet both our families, who were waiting eagerly in the lounge area. We were greeted with flashing lights and video cameras and lots of congrats! We all progressed toward the dining room where we all dined like kings, thanks to Mimi’s Dad.
Thank you for taking the time to share in this occasion. Blessings to all of you!
